To everyone reading this: Hi! I hope you are having a lovely day or night. My name is Zoe Zahorák and I’m a political science student in Budapest, Hungary. I am also the founder of an Instagram page called @speakupbyzoe a page dedicated to inspire Generation Z to talk openly about politics, social problems, and economics etc.. Although I love the quick, short version of information sharing that Instagram offers, I really want to share my thoughts/opinions in depth in a longer format. There are many issues in our world that I want to write about. For example, topics like the issue of poverty in today’s world, girls' education and human rights. For years the world of politics has fascinated me and that, combined with my childhood dream of helping the less fortunate, has given me a number of goals in life. I’ve also always been able to express myself best in writing, and I have gone from writing fantasy as a child to now writing about societal issues. I truly love to absorb everything going on in our world. Seeing the political states of different countries and analyzing what makes a nation great, or respectable, is so interesting for me. I am especially fascinated by American history and politics. The issues Americans face, and their different views on politics, is very compelling from a European perspective. Also, in the future, I would like to focus on learning about ‘developing’ countries. Growing up in a post-communist country has given me a large amount of compassion for countries affected by different political systems. My focus also goes past just politics as I’m also interested in psychology, culture, music and even spiritual topics. I feel that all of these interests will hopefully help me write even more relevant and interesting essays for this blog.
